Safeguarding Policy
1. Purpose
HumanBridge CIC is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone using our platform.
This Safeguarding Policy outlines the principles, responsibilities, and procedures we follow to help protect users from abuse, exploitation, harassment, and other forms of harm.
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility between HumanBridge, our users, partners, volunteers, contractors, and staff.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to:
- HumanBridge mobile applications;
- HumanBridge website and online services;
- HumanBridge employees;
- volunteers;
- contractors;
- moderators;
- community partners;
- all registered users.

- fostering respectful interactions;
- preventing abuse and exploitation;
- responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns;
- complying with applicable safeguarding and data protection laws.
4. Safeguarding Principles
HumanBridge is guided by the following principles:

- Continuous improvement.
5. Types of Harm
HumanBridge recognises that users may experience:
- harassment;
- bullying;
- discrimination;
- stalking;
- coercive behaviour;
- grooming;
- fraud and scams;
- financial exploitation;
- emotional abuse;
- online abuse;
- hate speech;
- threats or intimidation.
6. User Responsibilities
All users must:
- treat others with respect;
- report harmful behaviour;
- respect privacy;
- avoid abusive language;
- follow the Community Guidelines;
- comply with applicable laws.
Users must never attempt to exploit vulnerable individuals.
7. Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
Users can report concerns through:
- the in-app reporting feature;
- the HumanBridge website;
- email: safeguarding@humanbridge.uk;
- customer support.
Reports should include as much relevant information as possible.
8. HumanBridge Response
When a safeguarding concern is reported, HumanBridge may:
- review the report promptly;
- preserve relevant evidence where appropriate;
- contact the reporting user for additional information;
- temporarily restrict or suspend accounts where necessary to protect users;
- remove content that violates our policies;
- escalate serious concerns to law enforcement or other competent authorities where legally required.
HumanBridge aims to respond proportionately and fairly to every report.
9. Confidentiality
Safeguarding reports are handled confidentially and shared only with authorised personnel or authorities where necessary.
Information will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation.
10. Moderation
HumanBridge uses a combination of trained moderators and technology, including AI-assisted tools, to help identify content that may present a risk to users.
AI may assist in detecting potentially harmful content, but significant moderation decisions are subject to appropriate human review where required.
11. Emergencies
HumanBridge is not an emergency service.
If a user believes that someone is in immediate danger, they should contact their local emergency services without delay.
HumanBridge cannot provide emergency intervention or crisis response.
12. Support for Users
Where appropriate, HumanBridge may provide information about relevant support organisations, helplines, or community resources.
Providing this information does not create a professional counselling or healthcare relationship.
13. Staff and Volunteer Responsibilities
Employees, volunteers, moderators, and contractors working on behalf of HumanBridge must:
- complete appropriate safeguarding training where required;
- act professionally;
- report safeguarding concerns promptly;
- maintain confidentiality;
- comply with this Policy and all applicable procedures.
14. Policy Review
This Policy will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if required by:
- changes in legislation;
- operational developments;
- safeguarding incidents;
- identified risks.
